With all of the political tensions, and other armed conflicts globally one can only imagine that one day we will have to face China, the massive trade empire, and now a large global military power. We should only hope that this day never comes, but if it does this is what it will be like.
First off, China has the single largest military on the planet, with nearly 2.3 million active army personnel. This means, that they outnumber us greatly and would annihilate us in any conventional warfare. In addition to that, they have stolen all of our blueprints for our most advanced military technology such as helicopters, humvee's and jets. This means that they not only know how they work, but how to out play them. Also their massive military budget has allowed them to build their own state of the art weapons and vehicles, which would overwhelm our forces. In a full scale war, the Chinese would outman and out gun us, it would not end well for America.

Regardless of manpower or blueprints or strategies, there is another reason why war with China would end badly. (But not just for America.) Yes maybe in "conventional" warfare (I assume you mean a war of attrition, or two sides clearly duking it out) China would have an advantage. But in our increasingly modernized world, the idea of "conventional" warfare is circling the drain if not long since fallen down it. The nature of warfare is switching to a more urbanized, mobile units rather than big lumbering armies. But all the tactics aside, there is another shift in warfare that is far more worrisome. Throughout history, we've seen how arms races lead to more devastating forms of warfare and death. And rather unfortunately, we've made quantum leaps in nuclear warheads and bombs. War between any major powers from this moment on, at least for the foreseeable future, contains the possibility of global annihilation. If China and America were to wage war, it wouldn't be the odds of victory that concern me. It's the lengths to which either side would go to to achieve it and what they'd be willing to sacrifice that scares me.
ReplyDeleteTo counter Dave's point I do not believe that either side would make the choice to end the world with a Nuclear war. China is just as advanced as the United States if not more and because of that I believe that both sides recognize the devastating power of the nuke and that is the reason that NOBODY even the Russians have used one after WWII. We all know that nuclear war spells the end for humanity and I dont think that any side is willing to pay that price for a simple war victory.
