With all of the presentations on medical marijuana, I thought that I would do a little research and try to find something a bit more outrageous like medical cocaine. Medical Marijuana was legalized, because it had a plethora of medical uses, such as pain relief, anti-anxiety, anti-stress, and other potential uses. Medical Cocaine also could have its benefits. Cocaine is an anesthetic, or a drug that inhibits the transfer of electronic signals that help to dull pain and cause other effects such as a "high". One can also use the "its just a plant argument" because cocaine comes from the coca plant, that grows in the andes and is considered sacred, on top of that it has been used as a blood glucose regulator as well as an antibiotic. In addition to those, it can also be used to help lose weight. Cocaine use has been linked to weight loss, and could possibly be given to those who need to lose weight because of sever obesity.
I think I will go and get my Medicinal Cocaine card as soon as it comes out.

Before you start camping out to get your Medical Cocaine Card, you may want to be aware of some of the negative aspects of cocaine and the long run repercussions. It negatively affects the brain, heart, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, and sexual function. One of the reasons we've heard in class arguing for the use of medical marijuana is that the benefits far outweigh the liabilities. I would need to see a lot more evidence before I would feel comfortable using cocaine as a mainstream medicine.
ReplyDeleteI'd say, if anything, go for your medical marijuana card buddy! Bottom line, think before you act, I don't want to have to read your obituary entry years down the road that states you died of a cocaine overdose!
ReplyDeleteAlthough it has positive like you listed max i still must agree with dave to me the negative do outweigh the positives and it can also get addicting. however it is interesting that now there is a push for medical cocaine cards but the ultimate question is which state would legalize this first and how would they get the cocaine legally or how would they regulate the growing of the coca plant?
ReplyDeleteGiven that there are indeed documented cases of death caused by Cocaine, I do not think that there will any nationwide movement to legalize this extremely dangerous drug. As we heard in countless presentations, Marijuana has no life threatening side effects that can be directly traced to it. Cocaine definitely does. For this reason, I do not support the use of cocaine as a medical drug we should stick to the marijuana.
ReplyDeleteMedical cocaine is an outrages way of medically being treated, with many negatives it brings such as health problems and it can also cause addiction. Medical cocaine should never be used as a medication and it should never even be an option even as a last resort.
ReplyDeleteI think it be a hard battle to fight, considering that it may be taken advantage of, and not really being used for medical reasons. I would be surprised if it comes to that, taking to mind all of its negative effects.
ReplyDeleteYou could argue that any drug can be used for medical purposes. The definition of a drug is a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body. But with all drugs they come with negative side effects. So I think you always need to see if the negatives of the drug outweighs the positives.
