Thailand's Military declared martial law two days ago and today the military declared a coup and detained leading political figures within the Thai government. This is the 19th attempt to take power by the military since 1932. Over the past 6 months their have been violent pro and anti government protest. The two main political parties involved are the pro government party which is also called the For Thais Party and the anti government party which is called the Democrat Party. Obviously Thailand has had some political unrest to say the least.

There is a lot of tension going on in southern regions of asia, do you think that this has anything to do with the growing tension in the south china sea? The Vietnamese just bought a lot of high grade naval technology and arms from the Russians. Maybe there are other motives behind the Coup.
ReplyDeleteThat could be a possibility but I think that most of the tension in the South China sea is being caused by the Chinese government trying to expand it's territory. And China's neighbors trying to keep China away from their territory that borders the South China sea.
