Since we have been on the topic of trans and gays and how the churches say that they are supposed to be accepting and loving, my dad is a pastor and this topic has come as well.
He has said that if California makes a law that accept gay couples they can get married in churches and the church can not deny them or else the church can get sued or even closed down.
Is this true?
I don't think it is true because it is written in the Constitution that the government and religion are separate and they can't influence each other. With this in mind, I see the passing of gay marriage will allow gay couples to be legally married in the eyes of the court but this does not necessarily mean that churches of any religion are going to have to accept gay marriage.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's true or not but I find that really contradicting. The government can't force a church to go against their own beliefs to make it possible for gays to get married.
