I guess the rich really do get everything they want, buying their way out of trouble with "pocket change". Speaking from personal experience, I went to a private Catholic high School on the central coast. Although that wasn't nearly as bad as Corona Del Mar, it just amazes me how having even slightly more money than the average can turn kids into such A-holes. Despite cheating and changing their grades, these kids are continuing to get into the top universities around the world. Furthermore, the cheating scandal had little effect on the colleges they got into. For example, UCLA accepted 27 students last year and 29 students this year. An increase of 2 students, and many were probably involved in the scandal that got them in in the first place. In the end, their still achieving success and the school is turning a blind eye to it.

I feel that the root problem behind the misconduct and cheating from the students really has to do with these students feeling untouchable. Though their family has more than average money they feel like they live above everyone else which enables them in their heads do what others wouldn't even think of doing. Just my opinion
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a valid point! I agree with you on that 100%. I just wish that these kids would come back down to Earth so to speak and stop thinking their so much higher on the totem pole than everyone else! I guess one can only dream of that ever happening!
